What got you into cosplay?
When orchidsnv first helped to convince me to attend my first anime convention (Otakon 2004), she mentioned we should cosplay, and it sounded like something that would be great fun. I like to make things, and I think conventions are possibly the only and best opportunity to emulate your favourite characters.
What was your first costume and why?
InuYasha, from InuYasha. It was really the only series I knew at the time, and I didn't feel like cosplaying a girl. I prefer male to female characters.
What is your favorite costume and why?
Current favorite: Jean Havoc. Havoc never gets much cosplay attention but he's a closet favorite for a lot of people, so cosplaying him is pretty rewarding.
Previous favorite: Russell Tringham. I had a great time crossplaying him, and everyone who saw the costume (and recognised it) was excited about it because there are so few Russells around. It was very gratifying. Plus, Russell isn't that hard to wear.
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
Something with huge beautiful wings. However, it would be an annoyance to others because of the size. But I just want to make something really impressive and pretty.
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
When Russell's American voice actor came up to me while I was Russell at Otakon this year (2005). I had no idea who he was, so when he introduced himself, I almost passed out. He was really pleased to see the costume. I can't seem to stop talking about it. :)
Do you participate in masquerades?
No, I'm too competitive to enjoy it.
Tell us a little about yourself
I graduated college recently with BA degree in anthropology. My hobbies include writing, photography, and a little drawing here and there. Mostly, the first and last hobby revolve around fandom.
